As we all know staying hydrated throughout the day is very important to our body. The thing is, after a good night of sleep we actually lose a lot of water in our body, especially if you’re a mouth-breather like myself, in which case, your body loses water through water-vapor through your breath.
First thing to do in the morning is to hydrate, drink a glass of water, but add a lemon in it. 2-3 cups of water, with half a lemon should do it. Not only are lemons high in Vitamin C, but they’re also useful in stimulating your liver and gallbladder.
Liver is one of the main organs responsible for keeping your body free of toxic substances. The liver has over 500 functions, one of them is the ability to metabolize energy. So, how your body metabolizes carbohydrates, proteins and fats, is determined by the health of your liver.
When you drink lemon water in the morning, it actually helps you to cleanse some of those toxins out of your body and keep your liver healthy enough to metabolize energy efficiently and as a result speed up your weight loss.
Moving on to the gallbladder, this is where bile is stored, bile is a fluid that helps your body digest fat. Drinking lemon water helps to release additional toxic substances that have built up in it. So by including lemon water in your morning ritual, you are cleansing very important organs mainly the liver and the gallbladder. Lemon water also stimulates the digestive tract and helps with your bowel movements, so it helps with constipation as well.
You can have lemon water even twice a day, there are no known negative effects of drinking lemon water even more than twice a day. Remember to use a fresh lemon though, not juice box or bottles, nothing artificial.
